Center for Program Integrity (CPI): Web
Working within the confines of a rather restrictive website template might not seem like the most creative environment, but a little (or a lot of) hand coding goes a long way to transforming run-of-the-mill webpages into something much more interesting. Here are examples of live webpages as well as fully-coded prototypes that I’ve produced within the CMS web environment.

The Center for Program Integrity's landing page needed a major overhaul. CMS' content management system didn't offer many creative template options, but I had already used a generic template - a blank slate, basically - to create some live mockups using in-line coding. After creating a mockup for the new page and presenting it during one-on-one user testing, we built the page and published 9 new, custom-coded pages in April of 2018, receiving accolades and even a shout-out from our Agency Administrator. You can view the live site here.
For contrast, just click around the CMS.gov site after viewing the CPI pages - you'll see how different we are.

Other CPI Web Pages & Mockups
Not all mockups make it to prime time, but when the work entails stretching the limits of what we can use, it's still fun to try to get them there. These images are just some examples of hand-coding (in-line styling) that I've done in an effort to make the CMS web presence a lot more engaging.
- Combatting the Opioid Epidemic was a mockup I created in the agency's content management system, using in-line coding.
- The CPI landing page mockup shown here is a version I did to mimic the design of the CMS Innovation Center as an example of how we could match existing CMS designs.
- The Reducing Provider Burden page actually made it to prime time. We created it to simplify a very complex issue: reducing the burden on Medicare providers while still ensuring program integrity for the Medicare program. See the live page here.
